About Me

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have gone through many years of training to become a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor. I have experience of working with addictions including alcohol, drugs and self-harm. Within that context I have covered areas such as childhood sexual abuse, childhood neglect, emotional abuse, gender issues and eating disorders.

I also have experience of working with bereavement with Cruse Bereavement Care and also at a local Hospice at which I was a counsellor. The issues raised during this work were wide ranging and often went far beyond the bereavement issue.

I have a Certificate in couples counselling and see couples who are having difficulties of any kind in their relationship.

I attend many workshops and training courses to enhance my understanding of various issues including:

  • Working with Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
  • Working with Suicidal Clients
  • Understanding People who Self-Harm
  • Working with Addictions
  • Spirituality
  • Aspects of Bereavement
  • Anger and Rage
  • Disordered Eating
  • Working with clients with Asperger Syndrome
  • Working with Couples

I am committed to continued training to further my development as a counsellor.

I like to allow my clients to decide for themselves how many sessions they would like. However, sometimes it is helpful to make a contract to see each other for six sessions and then to review how things are for the client. If the client wishes, we can continue with further sessions. I do not have any limits to the number of sessions that clients can have. During the assessment session we will talk about practicalities and discuss if what I have to offer will suit the client.
